Dr. Chiu Ming (Amanda) Li, PhD, C.Psych. Psychologist (Supervised Practice)
Dr. Chiu Ming (Amanda) Li is a clinical psychologist (supervised practice) and a registered clinical psychologist in Hong Kong with 7 years of experience. She completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Dr. Li offers therapy to adults facing various mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety (with a special interest in Social Anxiety Disorder), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), depression, trauma-related issues, insomnia, interpersonal relationship difficulties, self-criticism, and adjustment difficulties.
Dr. Li is fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
She is dedicated to establishing strong connections with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, ensuring they feel supported and understood throughout the therapeutic process.
Dr. Li’s therapeutic approach integrates Cognitive-behavior Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Therapies, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She has sought out training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Mindful Parenting, and Mindfulness-Based Eating Awareness Training (MB-EAT). Additionally, she incorporates Compassion-Focused Therapy to promote self-acceptance and utilizes Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) interventions to support clients in improving interpersonal relationships and emotional regulation skills. She also has training in somatic-based interventions which she integrates into her therapy.

Dr. Amanda Li’s therapeutic approach to Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based strategies to address key challenges like time management, emotional regulation, and impulsivity. Dr. Li tailors her treatment to each individual’s unique experiences, addressing co-occurring issues such as anxiety and stress, with the goal of empowering clients to manage their ADHD traits with a greater sense of autonomy. Her focus on self-acceptance and psychological flexibility encourages clients to navigate their challenges and celebrate their personal growth, ultimately working toward long-term well-being. Dr. Li believes in fostering a safe, compassionate environment, where clients are encouraged to explore their strengths and develop tools to face their challenges. Through personalized care, her goal is to help clients feel understood, supported, and hopeful about their future.
Dr. Li has received training in public hospitals, the Social Welfare Department (SWD), and the Correctional Services Department (CSD) in Hong Kong. Through these trainings, she has gained valuable experience in serving individuals with diverse needs, including those with medical and psychiatric diagnoses, individuals receiving palliative care, individuals impacted by complex trauma, and individuals with a history of serious offenses. She also completed a placement at the Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders (CARD) at Boston University. Additionally, Dr. Li worked at a major mental health non-governmental organization in Hong Kong, providing support to adults facing various mental health challenges, including Schizophrenia and Dissociative Disorders. She has also been involved in promoting peer support movements, implementing person-centered services, and developing community-based prevention strategies.
Having made continuous contributions to pioneering initiatives in Hong Kong, Dr. Li has been involved in the development and research of a Mindfulness-Based intervention for insomnia, chronic pain, and eating issues. Furthermore, she had the opportunity to work as a clinical consultant for virtual reality (VR) therapy targeting social avoidance in collaboration with OxfordVR. Amanda has also participated in establishing the first mental health service for the Deaf community in Hong Kong and contributed to the development of an online mental health therapy platform called “Tourheart+,” which provides Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Therapy tailored for working adults experiencing symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Dr. Li’s research focuses on negative experiences in psychotherapy, psychiatric stigma, and technology-based interventions in mental health. Her research vision is to empower individuals facing mental health challenges, reduce harm and oppression, and advocate for holistic mental health services and the protection of mental health rights.
