Psychological Associate (Supervised Practice)

Samantha Levin is a Psychological Associate (supervised practice) registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario, with competency in Counselling and Clinical Psychology for adults. She has a Master of Education and Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology from Columbia University.

At Toronto Psychology Centre, Samantha provides treatment and assessment services for individuals dealing with a range of concerns such as Depressive Disorders, Anxiety Disorders (e.g., Panic, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, Specific Phobias), Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders (e.g., OCD, hair pulling disorder), assertiveness, emotion regulation (e.g., working with anger, fear, shame), executive functioning issues, family of origin issues, attachment concerns, relationship issues, self-esteem, and coping with trauma.

Samantha has a special interest in helping clients cope with life transitions, such as relationship and work changes, entering parenthood, and coping with loss. She is passionate about perinatal mental health, and supporting women as they navigate the ups and downs of pregnancy and welcoming a child into the world.

Samantha strives to foster a safe, warm, and non-judgmental therapeutic space where her clients feel understood and comfortable sharing their authentic selves. She aims to meet the unique and individualized needs of her clients using a person-centered and strength-based approach and is guided by the truth that each one of us has a need to be deeply heard.

Samantha draws on different evidence-based treatment modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). When indicated, she also uses more specific approaches such as Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD and Prolonged Exposure (PE) or Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD. Additionally, Samantha integrates mindfulness and self-compassion interventions into her work with clients. Samantha recognizes and admires the strength and resilience inherent in individuals and is passionate about and committed to helping her clients find hope, achieve their goals and reach their full potential.

During her master’s degree Samantha completed her training at a domestic violence shelter in New York City, where she worked with women and families who had experienced trauma and violence in their homes. Following her graduate degree, Samantha completed 6000 hours/4 years of post-master’s supervised clinical training and employment, which is required for registration with the College of Psychologists. During that time, she worked in several private practices in Toronto and London, Ontario with individuals across the lifespan and for a range of issues. At one clinic that had a more specialized focus on ADHD, she conducted assessments for ADHD and treatment with more complex presentations of ADHD within a collaborative team of psychologists and medical doctors.

Prior to joining the Toronto Psychology Centre team, Samantha co-founded Kindercare Psychology, a private psychology practice that provides assessment and treatment services to children, adolescents, parents, and adults.

Samantha is currently a member of the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals.
