Dr. Shauna Solomon-Krakus is a clinical psychologist who provides evidence-based treatments and assessments for adults. At Toronto Psychology Centre, she provides treatment for Depressive Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, and other issues such as perfectionism and self-criticism. In addition to her work at Toronto Psychology Centre, she is also currently employed as a staff psychologist at Toronto General Hospital’s Eating Disorder Program.

Dr. Solomon-Krakus exclusively relies on treatments and skills that are supported by empirical evidence, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for trauma, mindfulness-based skills, and self-compassion techniques. She provides personalized tools and skills to meet each client’s unique needs, and she aims to have every client leave each session feeling a little more empowered.

Dr. Solomon-Krakus values a collaborative approach to therapy, allowing her clients to work toward their therapeutic goals at their own pace while also providing support when clients are ready to facilitate change. She provides a warm, genuine, and non-judgemental environment where clients can express their thoughts and emotions openly. She is continuously inspired by her clients’ commitment to growth and exploration.

Dr. Solomon-Krakus received her PhD from the University of Toronto. She completed her training at several academic institutions in the Greater Toronto Area including the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), Toronto General Hospital, and the student counselling centre at the University of Toronto Scarborough. She completed her pre-doctoral residency at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, where she received extensive training assessing and treating mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and eating disorders.

Dr. Solomon-Krakus has a particular interest researching the complex relationships between body image, self-conscious emotions such as shame and guilt, disordered eating, and perfectionism. She has published her research in several peer-reviewed journals and has presented her work at national and international conferences. Her research has been funded by several competitive granting agencies, including the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).

Dr. Solomon-Krakus is a member of the following professional organizations: Ontario Psychological Association (OPA) and the Psychotherapy Practice Research Network.
