Dr. Dragana Ostojic-Aitkins, PhD, C.Psych. Neuropsychologist

Dr. Dragana Ostojic-Aitkin is a child and adolescent psychologist who practices within the areas of neuropsychology, clinical psychology, and health psychology.

At Toronto Psychology Centre, her focus is on providing evidenced-based, and child and family-focused assessment and consultation to address neuropsychological/medical conditions, Learning Disabilities and Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

Dr. Ostojic-Aitkens aims to make the assessment process a positive experience. To that end, she strives to foster a trusting and warm environment when working with children, youth and their families.

Dr. Ostojic-Aitkens tailors her clinical care to meet the unique needs of each client with a collaborative, curious, and open mindset. When sharing assessment findings, she recognizes the importance of clear communication as well as making practical and relevant recommendations for home and school.

Dr. Ostojic-Aitkens received her master’s and PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Windsor (Clinical Neuropsychology specialization) supported by a scholarship from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). She completed her pre-doctoral residency at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) followed by a two-year, post-doctoral fellowship in Neuropsychology at SickKids, where she continues to work.

Earlier in her master’s and doctoral training, Dr. Ostojic-Aitkens worked at the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board where she completed psychoeducational assessments and provided consultations to teachers, teaching support staff, and other providers. Dr. Ostojic-Aitkens also trained at the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan (inpatient & outpatient services) where she provided neuropsychological assessments to individuals who presented with a range of neurological conditions such as traumatic brain injury, hypoxia, multiple sclerosis, and neurodegenerative disorders. Additionally, she worked at the University of Windsor Sports Related Concussion Centre conducting baseline and post-injury assessments with child, adolescent, and varsity athletes, as well as at the Toldo Neurobehavioural Institute (inpatient services), which is part of the Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital in Windsor.

Through her training and work experiences, Dr. Ostojic-Aitkens has gained extensive experience conducting neuropsychological and psychoeducational assessments with children and adolescents with a variety of presenting concerns (e.g., learning challenges, neurodevelopmental concerns, attention problems, socio-emotional and behavioural issues). She has also provided care to youth with a wide range of medical conditions, including epilepsy, stroke, childhood cancer, and genetic conditions.

Embracing her training as a scientist-practitioner, Dr. Ostojic-Aitkens recognizes the importance of using research to guide her clinical practice. In addition to her clinical work, she enjoys clinical research and has co-authored several peer-reviewed journal articles as well as presenting regularly at conferences. Her current research interests include understanding neuropsychological sequalae in youth with medical conditions and exploring ways to improve neuropsychological service delivery by examining the perceptions of stakeholders (e.g., parents).
