Elizabeth McMillan, MSW, RSW, Social Worker
Elizabeth McMillan holds a Master of Social Work degree from Western University and is registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. She provides therapy to older adolescents, adults and seniors.
Elizabeth’s primary therapeutic approaches include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT). She works collaboratively with individuals experiencing a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety (excessive worry, social anxiety, panic attackes), Obsessive-Compulsive & Related Disorders (OCD), health concerns, ADHD, relationship and work stress, family of origin issues, perfectionism, emotion regulation difficulties, self-esteem challenges, life transitions, grief, and loss.
Known for her warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental style, Elizabeth values building a therapeutic relationship rooted in openness, empathy, and collaboration. She works hard to created a safe and respectful space where clients feel seen, supported, and empowered to navigate meaningful change at their own pace.
Elizabeth has a particular interest and experience in supporting individuals with Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviours (BRFBs), such as skin picking and hair pulling. She integrates CBT strategies, habit reversal training, and emotion focused techniques to address the emotional patterns that often fuel these behaviours, helping clients build practical tools alongside deeper emotional resilience.
She also has a strong interest in helping clients work through the impact of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and childhood trauma. Elizabeth understands that early relational wounds can leave lasting imprints on emotion regulation, self-esteem, and relationships. In this work, she places particular emphasis on building a safe, trusting therapeutic alliance – a collaborative relationship that becomes a guide for healing, helping clients rediscover their inner strength and capacity for growth.
In her work with clients managing ADHD, Elizabeth draws from CBT to address disorganization, procrastination, and emotion dysregulation, while weaving in EFT to support self-compassion, confidence, and resilience, recognizing the shame, frustration, and self-criticism that can often accompany ADHD.
Elizabeth has a deep and thoughtful approach to therapy, grounded in both clinical knowledge and genuine curiosity about each person’s unique life story. She believes that healing is not formula-driven, but person-driven – shaped by each individual’s experiences, strengths, and needs. Her work is collaborative, meeting you where you are and partnering with you to develop a treatment plan that fits your life circumstances, not a pre-set template.
Elizabeth’s approach is attentive to each client’s social location, cultural background, and personal life experiences. She is committed to understanding how family, culture, identity, and broader life contexts shape her clients’ challenges and strengths. By weaving together evidence-based interventions with empathic connection, she helps clients build insight, strengthen emotional resilience, and move toward lasting growth.
Elizabeth completed her clinical training through placements at St. Joseph’s Health Care in London, Ontario, where she provided therapy in outpatient mental health programs, the Transitional and Lifelong Care Program, and hospice care. She has received additional intensive training in Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) and completed specialized coursework through the Beck Institute of Cognitive Behavior Therapy.
Elizabeth brings clinical depth, thoughtfulness, and a deep commitment to her work – helping clients not only reduce distress, but move toward greater emotional health, self-understanding, and personal fulfillment.
Elizabeth is a member of the Ontario Association for Social Workers and the Canadian Association of Social Workers.
